Unemployment benefits
For unemployed members receiving ALG I benefits who are exempt from statutory pension insurance (GRV), the Employment Agency will, upon request, cover the contributions to the Saxon Medical Pension Fund. To do so, please request a certificate of contribution coverage from the Saxon Medical Pension Fund.
Contributions from sickness, injury, and long-term care benefits
Pursuant to Section 47a(1) of the German Social Code, Book V (SGB V), health insurance funds also make contributions to retirement savings from sick pay for members who are exempt from the statutory pension insurance scheme in the event of incapacity for work.
Sick pay
SÄV members with statutory health insurance must submit an application to their health insurance provider so that the provider can pay pension contributions to the SÄV. The amount is based on the amount that would otherwise have been payable to the statutory pension insurance system. Those who do not submit an application will not pay any contributions to the Sächsische Ärzteversorgung for a maximum of 72 weeks while receiving sick pay.
Contributions from transitional fees
Effective January 1, 2023, pursuant to Section 3, Sentence 1, Item 2b of SGB VI, enlisted personnel on fixed-term contracts who receive transitional allowances and have been covered by supplementary insurance under Section 186 of SGB VI are exempt from the obligation to participate in the pension insurance scheme.
Accordingly, the Federal Ministry of Defense pays contributions from transitional allowances for members whose supplementary insurance has been arranged pursuant to Section 186 of SGB VI to the Saxon Medical Pension Fund. Section 11b(5) of the Military Pension Act has been amended accordingly.
